The BAM number is used to uniquely identify a substance or object in the BAM dangerous goods data pool.

Remark (german): Der Stoff darf nur zur Beförderung zugelassen werden, wenn er einer der Benennungen oder einer der n.a.g.-Eintragungen in der Gefahrgutliste in Kapitel 3.2 zugeordnet worden ist und den Kriterien des Handbuchs Prüfungen und Kriterien entspricht. Die Zuordnung erfolgt durch die zuständige Behörde des Ursprungslandes (für Deutschland die BAM).
