Remark (german): Ethylenglycolmonobutylether ist in Tabelle C des ADN aufgeführt und dort der UN-Nr. 9003 "STOFFE MIT EINEM FLAMMPUNKT ÜBER 60°C UND HÖCHSTENS 100°C , die nicht anderen Klassen zuzuordnen sind" zugeordnet. Demnach wäre der Stoff nur bei Beförderung in Tankschiffen Gefahrgut. Nach einem Gutachten des Bundesamtes für Risikobewertung (BfR) hat der Stoff jedoch giftige Eigenschaften entsprechend der Verpackungsgruppe III. Der technische reine Stoff kann durch Verunreinigungen einen Flammpunkt von höchstens 60 °C aufweisen. Daraus ergibt sich für diese BAM-Nummer eine Zuordnung zur UN-Nr. 1992 "ENTZÜNDBARER FLÜSSIGER STOFF, GIFTIG, N.A.G." in der Klasse 3. Für den reinen Stoff existiert eine zweite BAM-Nr. 2821, die nur die giftigen Eigenschaften berücksichtigt (UN-Nr. 2810 "GIFTIGER ORGANISCHER FLÜSSIGER STOFF, N.A.G.").
