Dangerous Goods Dataservice

General information

You may also purchase the data without the user interface of the Dangerous Goods Database. The dangerous goods data can then be compiled as desired.

The data can be integrated into company-owned software or into software products which can be merchandised.

The data are typically delivered as standard Excel or CSV files. If so desired, other data formats are available. You can assemble the data according to your requirements within our framework. Please see the "Available data" section for details on what data are available. If necessary, we will also put together a custom offer for your particular needs.

Fees plus 19 % value added tax.

Fee model for individual software (for internal use)

In the case of individual software we assume that an enterprise (freight forwarder, logistics firm, software developer) will use our data in the company-owned software or passes the data on to a subsidiary company or franchisee in the form of company-owned software.

The licence fees are calculated by the fee model of BAM. The amount of fees depend on the scale of data, the data system and the number of users. The purchase of a volume licence with unlimited users is also possible.

More details on the fee calculation are available in the following linked document:

Fee model for standard software (for commercial resale)

For standard software, we assume that a software company builds a product containing our data which will then be made available to more than one customer.

There are two different fee models for standard software:

Data Based Commission (DBC)
The software company gets a provision for the marketing of dangerous goods data of BAM. The fee for the data is defined by BAM based on the fees for individual software.

The software company concludes a contract for the use of the data with its customers before it delivers the software with dangerous goods data of BAM. It invoices the fees for the data and its provision together to its customers and pays the fees for the data to BAM.

Product Based Commision (PBC)
BAM will receive a percentage of the sales revenue from the producer of the standard software. The percentage of the share depends on the added value our data contributes to the software and will be jointly agreed with the licencee.

In both models DBC and PBC for the first four years of the contract, a minimum charge will be agreed which becomes due at the beginning of each calendar year. An account of the revenue achieved above and beyond is prepared at year end.

More details on the fee calculation are available in the following linked document:

The data on offer

Dangerous goods data are available in two different systems:

UN No. System: All UN No. related data of the dangerous goods list of the regulations are included in this system.

BAM No. System: This second system includes a more detailed data set. It is split to several topics and contains data for approx. 3,700 individual substances (approx. 6,300 data records), which are subject to the regulations but are not especially named in the regulations. For the BAM No. System the following lists of topics are available.
